My two aunts and mom decided yesterday to remove the respirator from my Papi. The nurses and the doctor told us that he would die within 72 hours. So we all cried and cried, but we had perfect peace from the Lord that Papi was on His way to meet his Maker. God, however, isn't ready yet to take Papi at least not today. When we left last night, my Mom, aunts, my cousin Matt, and I were completely emotionally drained. We all told Papi that it was okay for him to go.
Well, this morning when my Mom and I arrived we immediately went in and Papi seemed the same to us. Even his vital signs seemed the same as last night. Well, the nurse told my Mom.. "you know he is better and his vitals signs are very good." We were like WHAT!!!??? Papi was even responding to us which he hasn't done in 3 days. And the doctor started him on a IV and protein into his feeding tube. Papi is still very ill with pnemonia and kidney failure due to infection. We are all cautiously optimistic, but we know that only God knows.
A special thanks to our friends from church (the Mezas, the Seleckys, the Lemas, and the Alonsos) for supporting my family. They have been there for us crying, praying and singing right along with the family. We can never express our gratitude for the love shown to us by them.
Also, I want to thank the Logans from the bottom of my heart for helping David scan over 100 photos of Papi. These small acts of kindness and compassion mean so much to me.
